The CBOI Peace Proms took place in The Hub, Cillin Hill, Kilkenny last Saturday and Sunday with four concerts and over 3000 children taking part. Children from all over the South East, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Carlow, Wexford and Waterford were involved. Forty Seven pupils from Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Class represented Urlingford NS at the Sunday Matinee from 2pm. A great concert included the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland, four soloists, a top Irish Violinist, an uilleann piper, a pipe major from Belfast, a pipe band from Derry, some Scottish dancers and characters from Star Wars!! Yes, Chewee made an appearance! Classics from the movies, the pop charts and more were played and sung. At the matinee show, there were over 800 children present. Our singers were brilliant, singing, bopping and belting out the dance moves with smiles on their faces. Congrats to them on a super show and a big thanks to Ms Teehan who prepared the choir so well. Thanks also to Mrs Brennan, Ms Phelan and Mrs Costello who cared for the children at the concert and showed off some moves also! The photograph below gives an idea of the sheer size of the whole concert. Our thanks to David Hyde for the image.
