Green Schools

The Green Schools’ Committee is hard at work at the moment as the school prepares to apply for the Fifth Green Flag for Biodiversity. On a number of occasions since September Mark Nolan from Green Bee Education has called to the senior classes to discuss the issue with them. The wild flower garden is in its winter sleep but will hopefully be back in bloom come the end of the year while the committee will be restructuring the ‘bug hotel’ when the weather improves a little. Right now the committee’s energy is all going into paperwork as the application for renewal of the flag is due on March 11th.

As a follow up to the travel theme the senior classes have started a Cycling Safety Course with Jason Morrissey of South East Cycling Safety. For five Mondays in February, Jason is spending the day in Urlingford and Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Classes are all getting comprehensive training in how to cycle safely and the rules of the road. An enjoyable experience for all involved but also very valuable knowledge for our children to know!
